I used gold glass bugle and seed beads to tone with Jen’s green/gold gown and sourced some vintage buttons to make the centrepiece to the leaf trio design.

I then sourced a different vintage centrepiece to create a gold Olivia comb which Jen’s mum wore to complement the bridal look when she walked her down the aisle.

I absolutely adore Kate Beaumont’s elegant vintage-inspired wedding dress designs – so when she asked me to provide the sparkle for one of her wedding gowns she didn’t have to ask me twice!

I first met Kate when she was planning her own wedding and she fell in love with one of my bridal hair combs. The Olivia headpiece was the perfect match for the slinky 1930s style gown she was making herself for her wedding.

Debbie Collaborates With Bridal Gown Designer To Create Elegant Vintage Gold Wedding Dress

As a bridal accessories designer I’m used to styling my pieces to complement a bride’s gown – but it’s something else entirely when a wedding dress designer asks me to collaborate on the creation of the dress itself!

BLOG DEBBIE CARLISLE

Kate in the dress she made herself and my Olivia comb and veil.

Kate lives in the same part of Sheffield as me and we became firm friends, bonding over cups of tea, glasses of wine and our shared love of bridal design.

When Kate decided to set up her own business making wedding dresses for other brides I was honoured to be asked to help accessorise them in her photo shoots.

I have also had the pleasure of providing accessories for a number of Kate’s brides who had seen her own Debbie Carlisle headpiece on display in her studio.

One of these brides was the gorgeous Jen, who commissioned Kate to make her wedding gown. The pair of them played with the silver Olivia comb that Kate wore for her wedding and decided this style would make amazing cap sleeves for her dress – and that was when I got involved!

Jen said: “Kate and I met to brainstorm ideas, before agreeing on a bespoke design in luxurious dark green/gold heavy satin, collaborating with Debbie Carlisle to make the gorgeously opulent capped sleeves.

“Kate is amazing, and she made me the most incredible dress. It was so glamorous, flattering and tuned to fit me perfectly. My Mum Catherine also wore a hairpiece matching the sleeve pieces on my dress.”

I think the result of our collaboration is a truly stunning and unique wedding gown with a really special vintage look.

And I also think that this may not be the last collaboration you will see between me and Kate this year, so keep your eyes peeled!
